Health insurances
The cost of a Saalux UV comb is often covered in full or in part by your health insurance. To claim this, you will need a prescription or a doctor’s referral.
Whether your health insurance covers the cost, and if so, how much, depends on various factors:
- Legislation in your country
- General cover provided by your health insurance provider
- Limitations on cover based on your insurance plan
You can obtain definitive information regarding cost coverage directly from your health insurance provider.

Cost coverage in Germany
Legal basis
In Germany, the law stipulates when statutory health insurance funds cover the costs of so-called medical aids, such as the Saalux® UV comb. People with statutory health insurance are generally entitled to such medical aids if certain conditions are met:
- The medical aid must be listed in the official medical aids directory of the statutory health insurance funds.
- The provider (supplier) must be professionally qualified to supply it.
- The provision must be based on a contract between the health insurance fund and the provider.
These rules ensure that the provision is appropriate, safe and medically justified. The good news is that Saalmann medical GmbH & Co. KG meets all these requirements. The Saalux® UV comb has its own medical aid item number (06.30.01.0010) in the medical aid directory of the statutory health insurance funds (GKV). Saalmann medical GmbH & Co. KG supplies patients covered by almost all health insurance funds throughout Germany.
Choice of medical aid
Insured persons generally have the right to choose between several suitable and cost-effective medical aids. In practice, however, this right of choice is often restricted, as health insurance funds usually only have contracts with certain manufacturers for cost reasons. Consequently, insured persons often receive only the medical aids offered by their health insurance fund and are obliged to use them.
However, insured persons can influence this decision: if the doctor explicitly specifies a particular medical aid in the prescription, this increases the likelihood of receiving that exact aid. Health insurance funds frequently take this recommendation into account.
In your own interest, please use our prescription form for the Saalux® UV comb.
Procedure for those with statutory health insurance
Following your doctor’s diagnosis and recommendation, you will receive a fully completed prescription form. Please send us the original of this form by post. We will record your details in accordance with data protection regulations and forward the prescription electronically to your health insurance provider together with our cost estimate.
As soon as the health insurance provider confirms that they will cover the costs, we will automatically send you the device. A pre-filled acknowledgement of receipt will be enclosed with the medical aid. Please sign this and return it to us promptly by post or email so that we can settle the claim with your health insurance provider. Your health insurance provider will also inform us whether we need to charge a statutory co-payment. For insured persons aged 18 and over, this amounts to a maximum of €10 per medical aid.
Process for privately insured patients
Private health insurers generally cover the costs of medically prescribed medical aids. However, whether a medical aid is covered depends on your personal policy and the terms and conditions of your insurance.
Please keep the original medical prescription for the time being. Simply send us a scan or a clearly legible photo of the prescription by email to . We will then draw up a personalised quote and send it to you as a PDF. Using the prescription and our quote, you can clarify the coverage of costs directly with your health insurance provider.
As soon as you have received approval from your health insurance provider, please order the device, quoting our quote number. We will then dispatch the device immediately, together with a delivery note and invoice.
