Proven narrow-band UV-B spectrum
The Saalux® UV comb emits only a very small fraction of natural sunlight: the so-called UV-B 311 nm narrow-band spectrum. This specific wavelength range is particularly effective in the treatment of various skin conditions.
Numerous scientific studies over the past 30 years have shown that this UV therapy is particularly effective and offers a favourable risk-benefit ratio.
That is why UV-B 311 nm narrow-band therapy is now the most widely used form of treatment worldwide – both in doctors’ surgeries and clinics, and at home using small or larger devices.

Easy to use
A course of treatment with the Saalux UV comb usually comprises 20 to 30 individual sessions. Treatment is carried out every two days and usually lasts only a few minutes each time.
The UV dose is administered over the course of the treatment. The relevant starting values and rates of increase are listed in the instructions for use as time and dose tables for each skin type. The duration of treatment is monitored using the timer supplied.
Each session carried out is then recorded in the patient diary included in the instructions for use.

For various body sites
Psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and vitiligo tend to occur in specific areas of the body or, depending on their severity, are limited to smaller areas.
The Saalux® UV comb is designed as a handy irradiation device for targeted UV therapy of these smaller skin areas, such as the hairline, hands, elbows or even the feet. The limited irradiation area also protects healthy skin from unnecessary UV radiation.
Larger areas of skin, such as the entire scalp, are treated in sections using the Saalux® UV comb.

Safe use at home
The Saalux® UV comb is a therapy device that has been specifically tested and approved for home use.
In this relaxed environment, the UV dose or treatment time can be gradually increased with the necessary caution to determine your personal skin sensitivity, known as the erythema threshold. This helps to prevent or detect any potential side effects at an early stage.

Quick cleaning
The Saalux® UV comb features a removable comb attachment. The comb attachment rests on the skin during treatment and serves primarily as a spacer.
The comb attachment also provides extensive protection for the UV lamp and reflector against hair and dandruff. If necessary, it can be removed and cleaned easily and safely under running water.

As well as the small pair of UV-protective goggles included in the scope of delivery, a larger pair of UV-protective goggles is also available as an optional extra. These are particularly suitable for people who wear spectacles and medical professionals.
